Residents at Belong Macclesfield care village are amongst the first in the town to receive their Covid-19 vaccinations

The care home received a visit from Park Green Surgery to administer the firs doses earlier this week.

As part of the government's Covid-19 vaccination rollout, the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccination is now being deployed to protect the country's most vulnerable people, including care home residents and their carers.

Bryan Hardy, 89, resident at Belong Macclesfield commented on the event: "It all went well — I hardly felt a thing. I hope the vaccination will help to bring some normality back into our lives and I can now look forward to celebrating my 90th birthday, next month. The support we've received throughout the pandemic has been first class."

Caroline Ray, general manager at Belong Macclesfield said: "We are delighted that our residents and apartment tenants have started receiving their Covid-19 vaccinations this week; this is the added protection we have long been waiting for and gives welcome protection against Covid-19 symptoms.

"We are also grateful to Dr Morris of Park Green Surgery for his help and sensitivity whilst working with those in our care."
