Save Danes Moss hosting guided walk to mark World Peatlands Day

The Macclesfield community are being invited to explore a unique habitat on the town's doorstep.
World Peatlands Day takes place on Monday, June 2.
To mark the occasion, Izzy Halton from the Save Danes Moss campaign is organising a guided walk of the local peatland.
She said: "Please join us to explore the highest and largest lowland raised peat bog in all of Cheshire!
"I especially encourage those who have never been on-site before and want an experience that completely immerses you in nature."

World Peatlands Day was launched by the International Peatland Society (IPS) in 2019.
It takes place on June 2 to correlate with the date when the draft constitution of the IPS was adopted at an international symposium in Aberdeen in 1967.
The aim of the day is to raise awareness about the importance of peatlands and their responsible management.
"Peatlands are wetlands that store vast amounts of carbon and play a crucial role in regulating the Earth's climate," reads the IPS website.
"They are also vital habitats for biodiversity, providing a home for unique plants and animals."
Those wishing to join the walk at Danes Moss are asked to meet at 11am at the kissing gate on Moss Lane.
The walk will be around two hours with lots of chance for breaks.
Attendees are advised to wear waterproofs, long sleeves, trousers and walking boots or wellies.
Izzy added: "Please bring along any cameras or binoculars you have and I look forward to seeing you there!"
