'Showstopping' play equipment set to be installed at Macclesfield park

A 'showstopping' piece of play equipment with eight levels is coming to a Macclesfield park next year.
Over 1,500 people voted for their favourite out of two options for West Park put forward by Macclesfield Town Council in a project designed to improve the space.
Now the 8.9 metre high 'option B' is set to be installed in the park after winning "by a landslide". The equipment is set to include two slides, climbing walls, a fireman's pole and more.
Due to the height, planning permission will need to be granted by Cheshire East Council with hopes the mega piece of play equipment will be installed "at the start of 2026".

A post on the town council's social media reads: "Over 1500 of you voted for the option you wanted to see in West Park, and the tall tower won by a landslide.
"Mayor of Macclesfield Cllr Emma Gilman, who is councillor for Tytherington ward, in which West Park sits, was so pleased that the winning design has really given the park the "showstopper" it deserves.
"Due to the height of the equipment, planning permission will need to be granted by Cheshire East Council, and their parks department are pursuing that as we speak, with a view to it going in at the start of 2026."
