Palliative care staff in Macclesfield are in the running for a top award.

Staff at the Belong Macclesfield care village on Kennedy Avenue are celebrating being shortlisted for a 2026 End of Life Care Award.

The team at Willow House, one of the village's households for people requiring 24-hour care, are hoping to take home the Palliative Care Team Award for Residential and Nursing Homes (Not for Profit).

Cheryl Davies, general manager at Belong Macclesfield, said: "We are absolutely thrilled for Willow Household team.

"Providing end-of-life care requires an immense amount of empathy, skill and emotional strength, and the team embodies these qualities every single day.

"They work tirelessly to create a peaceful, comforting environment, ensuring the utmost dignity for residents, while providing a shoulder to lean on for their loved ones.

"Recognition for their dedication and expertise on a national scale is thoroughly deserved."

Belong supports older people through its modern care village model, offering specialist dementia care, 24-hour nursing support, and independent living apartments, all centered around a vibrant village hub that is open to the public.

This has earned the village a Platinum Gold Standards Framework (GSF) accreditation, the highest possible standard for end-of-life care provision in the UK.

Organised by Care Talk magazine, the Palliative and End of Life Care Awards celebrate excellence across the social care sector, shining a light on the individuals and teams who go above and beyond to preserve dignity and improve quality of life for those with life-limiting conditions.

The Willow House team will find out if they have scooped the top prize at a glittering gala awards ceremony at the Hilton Bankside in London on Thursday, July 2.
