Supermarket shoppers help support Macclesfield veterans club

Supermarket shoppers have helped support local veterans.

Macclesfield Veterans Breakfast Club have been presented with a cheque for £1,500 as part of Tesco Stronger Starts.

The scheme sees customers use blue tokens to vote for their favourite charity to receive a grant.

Sheena King and Emma Wood, community champions from the Hibel Road Tesco, attended the breakfast club's meeting on Saturday, April 12, to present the cheque.

Trevor Wardle-Paylor, chair of Macclesfield Veteran's Breakfast Club, said: "This club is a much-needed addition to the community where like-minded veterans can meet over breakfast for some light-hearted banter."

Macclesfield Veteran's Breakfast Club meet on the second Saturday of every month at the Masonic Hall on Risley Street in Macclesfield.

The club also host several social events throughout the year.
