Macclesfield FC have celebrated the end of their transfer embargo with a new signing.

Experienced attacking midfielder Harry McHugh has joined the Silkmen from League One Wigan Athletic.

The 23-year-old, described as 'dynamic and intelligent', has made over 20 first team appearances for the Latics.

Macclesfield's sporting director, Jonathan Bull, said: "Harry is a player we know will really strengthen our midfield options.

"His first team experience at Wigan shows his quality, and we have worked hard to complete this transfer so he can contribute to our promotion push.

"We also have a strong relationship with Wigan Athletic and would like to thank them for their cooperation in making this transfer possible."

The signing comes after a transfer embargo temporarily placed upon the club was lifted.

A statement released by the Silkmen on Friday, March 27, reads: "Over the past 24 hours, the club has worked diligently and collaboratively with the relevant authorities to resolve the matter swiftly and ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements. We are pleased that this has now been concluded.

"The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to both the FA and the National League for their support, guidance and professionalism throughout this process.

"We remain fully focused on our ultimate goal of promotion to the Enterprise National League, supported by a final addition of the season to John Rooney's squad, to be announced in due course."

That final addition was later revealed to be McHugh.

Once ratified by the league, McHugh will wear the number 31 shirt and be sponsored by Electroserv, who are currently hiring for a business administrator.
