Suspected burglars arrested as armed police descend on residential road in Macclesfield

Armed officers arrested two suspected burglars in Macclesfield.

Cheshire Police were alerted to reports of an aggravated burglary on Gilchrist Avenue on Friday night, September 25.

Upon arrival, officers arrested two 19-year-old men.

The pair have since been released on conditional bail until December 18.

A police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 9pm on Friday, September 25, police were called to reports of an aggravated burglary on Gilchrist Avenue, Macclesfield.

"Local officers, supported by the firearms unit, were deployed to the scene, and two local men, both aged 19, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

"Both men have since been released on conditional bail until December 18.

"Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and there is not believed to be any concern in the wider community.
