Last year's Mayor of Macclesfield has began to distribute almost £15,000 of charity money raised in his tenure.

Tytherington Cllr David Edwardes, who was Macclesfield's Mayor from May 2021 to May 2022, chose two charities to raise money for during his tenure.

One of these, Macclesfield Roundtable, have decided to donate goods worth £555 to Macclesfield's The Rossendale Trust.

The trollies were presented to the delight of tenants and their families on Sunday August 14.

Macclesfield Nub News were delighted to attend the event, and spoke to those who helped make this donation happen.

Ex-Mayor Cllr David Edwardes had the following to say:

"The Rossendale Trust is a wonderful charity. And I am delighted to see Macclesfield Roundtable step in to pay for their three horticultural trollies," he said.

"The money that goes from the Mayor's charity pot to the Roundtable before it is split up is £7366.81, and they will go to other Macclesfield charities including The Rossendale Trust.

"Thank you very much everyone for your support and attending."

Shaun Burdock, Vice-Chair of Macclesfield Roundtable said: "Macclesfield Roundtable are a like-minded group of people who work to keep local charities going."

"We raise funds in the local area and distribute it back locally.

The Rossendale Trust Chief Executive Steve Nichols was grateful for the donation.

"Thank you for Shaun and the Roundtable for supporting us in what is a very tough time," he said.

"The trollies will be used for gardening and will enable many more people to join in the activities here at the Trust."
