A resident at a Macclesfield supported living facility has completed her fourth Great Manchester Run.

The Rossendale Trust, a charity which provides support and services to adults with learning disabilities, has supported tenant Lucie Bevan to complete her latest Great Manchester 10k.

The Trust provides opportunities to people to live full and meaningful lives and strives to break down barriers which people with disabilities often face.

Supported by staff member and Group Leader, David Clifford, Lucie was able to experience the euphoric surroundings that is synonymous with the Manchester event, along with thousands of other participants.

Lucie requires the support of the Trust to participate as she has complex learning and physical disabilities.

"It is a real honour and pleasure to support Lucie on the Great Manchester 10k, said David.

"This year we really soaked up the atmosphere. Lucie loves to hear the crowds, the cheers and the music as we move around the course.

"Crossing the finish line with Lucie and watching as she receives her medal is always a special moment and I feel very proud that we can make this happen for her.

"Having a learning disability is not a barrier to opportunity and this is something I see every day in my work at the Rossendale Trust. H

"Helping Lucie to accomplish her goal and to watch her receive her medal on the race day is a moment I will forever cherish."

As part of their journey to the finish line, Lucie and David also decided to raise sponsorship for the Trust and have raised a fantastic £245 which will allow many other tenants the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of activities.

The Rossendale Trust is located at Rossendale Hall, Hollin Lane, Sutton, Macclesfield, SK11 0HR.
