Macclesfield Nub News are pleased to announce that Belong Macclesfield, the state-of-the-art dementia care village in Upton Priory run by not-for-profit operator Belong, has become an official sponsor of Macclesfield Nub News, helping us to continue providing news, photos and features for the local community.

Like all Belong villages, Belong Macclesfield offers a range of care, housing and support options for older people, as well as extensive amenities in the village centre. These include a hair salon, exercise studio, bistro and function rooms, all of which are designed to be open to the public as well as to the Belong community.

People can choose to live independently in an apartment at the village or within supported 24-hour care households, with a maximum of 12 residents per household, offering a family atmosphere where customers can build positive relationships with Belong colleagues and other residents.

Belong specialises in supporting people with dementia, with all employees working in Belong villages trained in dementia awareness, from domestic assistants through to bistro staff. Modern open plan layouts are specially designed around the needs of people with dementia.

140 staff are employed at the Kennedy Avenue operation, with 75 per cent of staff being from Macclesfield.

A fact that is is great for residents and guests, as they can reminisce memories of the local area with the people that work there.

Belong Macclesfield will celebrate their 15th anniversary this year, of which, Macclesfield Nub News will certainly cover.

The organisation is also a registered domiciliary provider and supports people in its independent living apartments, as well as in the wider community, through its Belong at Home service.

The care provided by both Belong Macclesfield and Belong at Home Macclesfield is rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission.

Along with their family members and carers, Belong customers can access a free Admiral Nurse service from its dementia specialist mental health nurses, who provide individualised support for those medically diagnosed with any form of dementia.

Commenting on the partnership between Macclesfield Nub News and Belong Macclesfield, village general manager Caroline Ray said: "As a hub for the local community, we are delighted to support the work that Macclesfield Nub News does to connect local people with vital news and information.

"We look forward to working together in the future, including contributing some stories of our own."
