Treehouses could come to idyllic rural Macclesfield wedding venue
A countryside wedding venue is proposing to build three tree houses so it can accommodate extra guests overnight at its Prestbury site.
The tree houses would provide additional guest accommodation for the exclusive use of people booking Hilltop Country House for their wedding reception, and would comprise two one-bedroom en-suite tree houses and one two-bedroom en-suite tree house.
A planning statement submitted to Cheshire East Council by Hilltop Country House Events Ltd states: "The proposed tree houses would be self-catering units and would include a kitchenette and dining area. This accommodation would complement the four en-suite bedrooms that are already provided within Hilltop House itself which can accommodate up to eight people in total. The additional accommodation proposed would accommodate up to eight people, meaning that there would be total accommodation on site for up to 16 people."
The applicant says the proposals for additional accommodation on the site off Flash Lane do not seek to increase the capacity of the venue, in terms of the maximum number of guests permitted to attend a wedding, or otherwise alter the approved operating hours.
"The proposals simply seek to provide additional space for overnight guest accommodation to allow more of the principal wedding party to stay together on site."
The planning document says the site is well contained from the wider landscape and has good access to the existing building and the surrounding area. It adds the tree houses will have little or no effect on the surrounding flora or fauna as the main structures are free standing and their construction will involve no additional landscaping.
The applicant says the new accommodation will be sensitively located to offer both convenient access to the main hotel, as well as a private, exclusive space to retreat to, all carefully positioned to ensure they have minimal visual and environmental impact.
The application, number 23/1637M, is due to be determined by a planning officer under delegated authority.
It can be viewed on the planning portal on Cheshire East Council's website and the closing date for comments is July 12, 2023.
