Tributes have been paid to a 'beloved' grandmother killed in a crash in Macclesfield.

Emergency services were called to reports of a crash on Black Lane, near the exit of the Tesco superstore, at 11.04am on Thursday, July 2.

Upon arrival, police found that a car had collided with a pedestrian, who suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Tragically, police have now confirmed that 77-year-old Ann Johnson passed away on Tuesday, July 7.

Paying tribute, Ann's family said: "Our family have been left devastated and heartbroken by the tragic events of July 2.

"Ann was a beloved mother and mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother, and a friend to many whose lives she touched.

"Twice widowed, she was at her happiest helping others and her love and support will be sorely missed.

"Life will never be the same, however the many messages we have received are a great source of comfort and solace.

"We would like to thank everyone who helped at the scene of the accident, the air ambulance crew who attended and who provide such an amazing service, and lastly the staff at Manchester Royal Infirmary who were amazing to the end."
