A Tytherington man was sentenced to one day's detention in a police cell and fined £25 after pleading guilty to theft from a pharmacy in Tytherington.

Cheshire Police told Macclesfield Nub News that Karl Bracegirdle, 43, of Sandwich Lane, appeared at Warrington Magistrates Court on Saturday (30 May) after admitting to the offence.

In addition to the £25, Bracegirdle was also ordered to pay £25 in compensation.

The arrest came after Tytherington residents reported the incident to police.

A post on the Macclesfield Tytherington Police Facebook page on Saturday said: "Following incidents in Tytherington a local man has been arrested and remanded. He is now waiting to be charged. Thank you for the continued support and efforts from local residents #watsonswatch."
