A unique feature of Macclesfield's Grosvenor Shopping Centre is the pop-up shop space opposite Claire's, second to the right after going through the Market Place entrance.

And the latest and final venture to take hold in the space this year is local gin makers The Edge Gin.

The small business is ran by ex-cruise entertainers Clare and Michael Ryan.

They'll be at the Grosvenor Centre six-days-a-week until Christmas Eve.

"We're delighted to be here, thank you for coming to see us Macclesfield," Clare said.

"We've got a lot of customers in Macclesfield, and we thought what a great way to support the local business community in return because it is great to have a physical presence on the high street filling in an empty unit.

"Having only just opened our new bar [in Congleton], and working loads through lockdown, it is nice to meet some of our customers in-person for the first time as well.

"Macclesfield is a great town full of characters, and so far they've enjoyed sampling and buying our gin."

The company is was established in 2018 in Alderley Edge, but now live and work in Congleton.

They launched their bigger distillery, bar and store based at Alcumlow Farm in Astbury last month.

"We're a husband-and-wife team which dedicate ourselves to make delicious gins," added Claire.

"Their first of four main products we have London Dry Gin, which is a classic gin that includes signature botanical goji berries."

"One of our three flavoured gins is Pear Gin, which we decided to do because there aren't many pear gins about, and it is very popular because it is different.

"We've also got our lovely Orange Gin and Fruits of the Forest Gin.

"We also have hot mulled pear gins just for the festive season, as well as candles, gift boxes and alcoholic sweets. So something for everyone really."

The Edge Distillery Shop is open six days a week.

Monday's Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturday's they are open from 10:30am - 4:30pm.

Whereas Wednesday and Thursday has extended opening hours from 10:30am - 5:30pm.

The exception to the rule is their last date of opening, which will will be Friday 24th December (Christmas Eve) 10:30am to 2pm.

They will be shut in the Grosvenor Centre this Sunday, but still have a presence at the Treacle Market, which they have had in previous markets.

They're also open to introducing themselves to the local business community over the next eleven days.

"We'd love to appeal to Macclesfield businesses that would love to stock our gin as well," Clare also said.

"So come say hello and have a taste or please send us an email."

For a unique experience this Christmas or in the New Year, you can bring family and friends to The Edge Gin near to Congleton for a tasting session.

It costs just £25 per head, to try all their range, plus extra drinks and nibbles.
