An independent business from Macclesfield which has become a viral hit across the globe, have received a gong from a social media network.

Lawn Stripes and Hedges Garden Maintenance, ran by Macclesfield resident Mark Marshall, have received a Silver Play Button from YouTube.

This is given to YouTube channels which have over 100,000 subscribers.

The award took a while to get to Mark in the post, from the California based video website, evidenced by the fact that he is now just why of 110,000 subscribers.

Mark's business - based on the aptly named Garden Street - works all across the Macclesfield area.

He told Macclesfield Nub News about the milestone: "This year has been incredible far as we have gained 1.4 million followers on social media with over 700 million video plays as of November 1."

"We are actually landscaping a local garden in Macclesfield at the moment for free because of the money that we have generated from social media."

"Not only that, we have just hit the silver play button on YouTube. Not bad for a local Macclesfield company."
