The West Park Café in Macclesfield has closed with immediate effect.

This is due to parent firm Deep Beat Entertainment Limited going into administration.

The Park Life Café in Crewe would have also been impacted by this news, however, Life Cafés & Resorts confirmed to Nub News that the contract to run the café at the Crewe park has been bought out, so will remain open unlike Macclesfield's West Park Café.

Cheshire East Council, who own West Park and work with contractors to deliver coffee shops within their parks, were contacted by Macclesfield Nub News for comment.

Councillor Mick Warren, chair of Cheshire East Council's environment and communities committee, said: "We learnt today that the company that was running the café operations at both Queens Park in Crewe and West Park in Macclesfield has, unfortunately, gone into administration."

The Macclesfield East representative added: "The council is making immediate plans to find a partner to take over the running of both cafés, as we recognise that as we come into the Easter season there will be an increased amount of usage of our outdoor spaces and demand will naturally be higher."

"We are working to resolve this development as quickly and as considerately as possible."

Regulars of the café has been distraught over the news.

One Macclesfield resident said on Facebook "Saddened at this news, my husband and I, both in our eighties, love our walks through the park which is beautifully kept and really enjoy a coffee and refreshments in the café. The manager and young staff are incredibly friendly and do a great job and will be greatly missed."

Another said: "Very sad to hear this, it was a lovely, friendly cafe, we visited many times and our grandchildren loved it. It's a real loss to the community."

There could also be a new café coming to South Park. Please click HERE for more on that story.
