It is an extra special Treacle Market this weekend, with it being a Bank Holiday weekend.

So you can stay out in town even longer after the market has ended, with many attendees not having work the next day.

So Macclesfield Nub News caught up with Andy and Becky Thompson, co-organisers of the Treacle Market, to find more about what we can look forward to in this weekend's market.

"We do have some big news", said Becky.

"We have finally managed to catch a fish monger. They are called Fish from the Sea.

"They are going to be at the end of Exchange Street. He gets all his fish from Fleetwood, being local as possible."

It is an extra coup as many fishmongers do not work on a Sunday. But this one does!

"Recent additions like vintage football shirt Squadra will be in the main Market Place, and graffiti upholsters Refitti outside Five Clouds.

"Mr Squidge's Emporium will also be in the main square, with handmade dog accessories. They even make bespoke wedding outfits for dogs."

Jola Designs will be on Market Place.

The latter of which, is an appropriately timed addition, given the fact the Treacle Market dog show is next month.

Elsewhere there will be a new Treacle presence for Beech Lane gift shop Jola Designs, who will be stationed on Upper Market Place,

Vintage cutlery upholder Hipandra, who repurposes silver spoons and forks into stylish jewellery, will be next to Jola Designs on Market Place. A vegan clothes stall will also be there, called Green Tab Clothing.

Local further education producer Macclesfield College will return with a stall to promote their adult learning classes.

"We are pleased to be working with Macclesfield College again," revealed Becky.

"Cheshire Lavender will also be at their last Treacle Market of the year, with their business being obviously seasonal. They will be opposite St. Michael's Church.

"On Castle Street we will be welcoming back Baby Nonna who will be doing Venezuelan food for the first time for at least a year.

"Entertainment-wise we will be kicking off with Annie's Saints and Sinners. This is the last time they will be called Annie's, as she will be stepping back, with the group being named simply Saints and Sinners after her retirement gig.

"From 12:30pm to 1pm we will have MMTG, who will be promoting their September show of The Addams Family, which I am really looking forward to seeing.

"They will be followed by the mighty Mac Woodfleet. Adjacent to them, we welcome back Tommy's bar as well."

Maccwood Fleet will be performing in the afternoon.

This month marks the three-year anniversary since Andy and Becky took over.

"We are delighted to make it to three years," she said.

"And although I feel significantly more relaxed right now than I did three years ago today, that is not to say I get any sleep whatsoever still the night before - the magnitude of the event has not gone away!

"Thank you to the people of Macclesfield for their support, our traders, local businesses, our volunteers and everyone who helps make it happen."

"Thank you everyone, you are awesome," added Andy.

The Treacle Market takes place this Sunday, from 10am to 3:30pm.
