What's new at the Treacle Market this weekend?
It is the fourth Treacle Market of the year, and the one year anniversary of the Treacle Market making their return from the 2021 lockdown.
145 stalls. Six streets. One vision for a thriving town.
The Treacle Market will take place from 10:00pm-3:30pm this Sunday, April 24.
Manchester artist Katie of The Kitschen Disco will be making her Treacle Market debut on Unicorn Gateway. Her prints, badges, cards and more give off an eighties neon vibe.
"Macclesfield is only half an hour on the train from Manchester and it's flippin' gorgeous," she said.
"It is a lovely Victorian market town in the countryside with indie shops, cafés and bars (plus the usual High Street ones), and a monthly market full to the brim with art, vintage, craft, antique, plants/flowers and artisan traders, plus lots of fab food and drink and live music!"
Music wise, a big new addition is Macclesfield covers band Smugglin' Budgies.
The party band have played just about every venue in Macc.
The local musicians formed during lockdown, but they have never done Treacle before.
They'll play a slew of sets on the Market Place stage Macclesfield Treacle Market veteran performers Annie's Saints and Sinners will also be singing.
Sustainable delivery company ELOV will keep the party going in-between musician sets, with their DJ booth on Unicorn Gateway.
Bollington-based Brewbox bar will be the mobile bar on Market Place this month.
South American BBQ Smoke Fire Flame will be the latest food stall to be on the Market Place / Unicorn Gateway corner.
Chestergate will be unaffected from the scaffolding added near Ryman's. There will be extra seating outside Proper Sound.
There's a full house with community groups in the St. Michael's churchyard. Beech Hall School will raising money for Cheshire Streetwise.
Students will also doing some music performances on the lawn. A perfect place to enjoy your ice cream or recuperate after your purchases. Performance starts at 12.
More coaches from further afar will be coming to Macc, as the weather will be a nice one. Highs of 13 and just a little bit of clouds, meaning our town will look extra pretty and bask in the spring sun.
Recent Treacle Markets have had coaches come from Prestatyn, Wrexham, Wolverhampton and Cumbria.
And more coaches means more volunteers to help shoppers find their way across town. The Treacle Market are still looking for new volunteers, but an appeal with the help of Nub News has led to more Maxonians offering their help at our town's monthly artisan market.
"After various shoutouts and requests, it is great to see members of the Macclesfield community come and volunteer", said Treacle Market Co-Organiser Becky Thompson.
"We're still looking for new volunteers. And it is great that Macclesfield Nub News' Editor has volunteered as well.
"There's always room for pie and a pint after as thanks as well."
