Witnesses urged to come forward after injured cyclist found collapsed in Pott Shrigley

Witnesses are sought after a cyclist was found injured in Pott Shrigley.

Police were alerted to reports of an incident on Bakestonedale Road at around 12.20pm on Thursday, March 6.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a cyclist had collapsed in the street with 'serious' facial injuries.

Police are now urging witnesses or anyone with video footage to come forward.

PC Steve Johnston, of the Roads and Crime Unit, said: "Enquiries in relation to this incident are ongoing and we're committed to doing all we can to establish exactly what took place.

"As part of our investigation, we're keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and believed they may have witnessed what took place.

"The same goes for witnesses and video footage, anyone with any dashcam footage or anyone who thinks they may have seen the cyclist in the moments prior to the collision."

The cyclist, a 59-year-old man from Bollington, was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

At the time of the collision, he was wearing a wearing a white cycle helmet, with a red top and riding a blue and green road bike.
