Macclesfield: Possible powers for police to take alcohol from street drinkers

If you crack open a can of beer in a public space in Macclesfield, police could soon be legally granted to snatch it from you.

A consultation which could grant powers to allow police to confiscate alcohol from street drinkers in Macclesfield has been launched.

Cheshire East Council have launched a public consultation - just for Macclesfield - which will allow officers to remove bottles or alcohol if being consumed in public.
