Macclesfield links to Poynton will be improved from new £53 million road

Work is 'progressing well' on the new multi-million Poynton Relief Road, which will streamline links with Macclesfield.

The first two beams for the new bridge now in place for the £53m project to improve road links in our area.

Macclesfield band The Virginmarys to continue as a duo, tease new music

Macclesfield rock band The Virginmarys have announced new music, but also that a member is leaving the band.

Ross Massey, who has been the band's bassist since 2017, will be leaving the band.

The Cheshire Cheese Company, who will be at this weekend's Treacle Market, have launched a new Ploughmans cheese inspired by Jacob's Mini Cheddars.

Macclesfield-band Cassia have released the next track from their soon-to-be-released EP Magnifier.

Vitamins is a soul-twinged indie song, which has themes many of us in lockdown will find relatable, according to Cassia singer-songwriter Rob Ellis.

Gawsworth Shop seeks volunteers as lockdown restrictions ease

Gawsworth Shop is appealing for more volunteers so it can extend its opening hours and run a range of activities organised by its new community Hub later this year.

Due to lockdown regulations, the community run village shop has been closing at 1.30pm during the week.

Macclesfield Has A New Mayor and Deputy After Macclesfield Town Council Ceremony

Macclesfield's new Mayor Independent Cllr David Edwardes, with his wife Natalia, who is Russian. She will be the Mayoress for David's term as Mayor of Macc.

Macclesfield has a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor as of this week, as Macclesfield Town Council had their first in-person meeting since before the pandemic.

Tributes were paid to the retiring Mayor Cllr Sarah Bennett-Wake, who served the town for the past year as Mayor during the pandemic.
