With more fun activities coming up locally in the near future, we thought it would be a good time to let you know about our Macclesfield Nub News What's On section.

Our local libraries have reopened in line with the next stage of the government's roadmap.

This includes Cheshire East Council's Macclesfield Library, situated on Jordangate.

Over 45s in Macclesfield and the surrounding area can now book their first Covid-19 jab.

This is as all UK adults, aged 50 or over - or those classed as clinically vulnerable - have had their first dose offered.

A local history buff has colourised vintage pictures of Between the Wars era Macclesfield.

Striking pictures show well-dressed 1930s gentlemen atop Brunswick Hill in colour, and a vintage snap of a Bollington butchers which still exists today.

Two charitable Dads ran from Macclesfield to Manchester, breaking speed and fundraising records. 

Personal Trainer Matthew Rigby (36) and Web and App developer Tom Yates (40) ran the River Bollin from Riverside Park in Tytherington, to the Manchester Ship Canal in Partington. 

After an unseasonably chilly April week, it can be tempting to think of the cold temperatures as pathetic fallacy for Cheshire's pandemic fightback.

However, despite the grey clouds and clouds of visible breath, the county has had a week of good news on the Covid front.

Leading Conservatives from Alsager and Macclesfield have welcomed a message of support from MP Fiona Bruce with five days to go until the expected announcement by Cheshire East Council that they will close Congleton's tip in September.

As part of the responses, an accusation of electioneering was directed at one of the Cabinet members who will make the decision during Tuesday's CEC Cabinet meeting, Bollington councillor Amanda Stott.

A local woman is raising money for East Cheshire Hospice by completing a 'wing walk' on an aeroplane in flight.

"I'm raising money for the East Cheshire Hospice as over the years it has provided end of life care for members of my family, my friends and their families," said Angela Robson on her JustGiving page.

Nearly two-thirds of Cheshire's adult population have now had their Covid-19 vaccine, new data shows.

The statistics, from NHS England, show that to April 4, 388,487 residents have had their first dose of a coronavirus vaccine — out of a population of 596,446 — representing 65 per cent of the county's over-16s.

Shortly before 9.30pm last night (Wednesday), firefighters received a report of a fire at West Park off Prestbury Road in Macclesfield.

On arrival the crew discovered that it was a small fire under the awning of a museum. They used a hose reel jet to extinguish it before employing a thermal imaging camera to look for hotspots and make sure that the fire was fully out.
