10,000 capacity stadium to host Congleton Town vs Macclesfield FC
The venue has been chosen for Macclesfield FC's upcoming match against Congleton Town FC.
And the match will be held in Cheshire East, in what will be the biggest Cheshire derby in recent memory.
Crewe Alexandra's ground will welcome the North West Counties Football League Premier Division sides on March 26.
Gresty Road - currently known as Mornflake Stadium for sponsorship reasons - is the home of the League One side.
It is 20 miles away from Macclesfield FC's ground, which held the previous fixture of Macclesfield vs Congleton in August.
Clashes between spectators marred the previous meeting between The Bears and The Silkmen, where seven were arrested.
Macclesfield FC Director of Football Robbie Savage and Owner Rob Smethurst had to intervene to allow play to continue, and was featured in the BBC's 2021 Macclesfield FC documentary.
Macclesfield won August's fixture 1-0, and are hot favourites for another victory, being top of the league.
Congleton won't have home field advantage for this month's game, both sets of fans could be cheered on by thousands to make the encounter a close one.
The capacity of Crewe's ground is 10,153, but it is not yet known if all seats are up for sale.
Macclesfield FC released the following statement regarding the 3pm kick off on March 26.
"Further to the announcement that our NWCFL Premier Division fixture against Congleton Town will be played at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday 26 March, tickets for the game are now on sale.
"Silkmen fans will be situated within the South Stand and tickets can be claimed either via the link below or through Crewe Alexandra's Ticket Office on 01270 252610.
"Supporters are reminded that full segregation will be in place and that no alcohol will be permitted inside the Stadium.
"Make sure that you claim your ticket ahead of our last away match of the season and support Danny Whitaker's side during what we all hope will be a memorable occasion."
Silkmen manager Danny Whitaker has experience at Crewe's ground as a player.
Silkmen fans will also recall Macclesfield Town last played Crewe Alexandra in a two nil loss in February 2020, months before the club ceased to exist and Macclesfield FC would be formed.
