Former Manchester United and England footballer to host Bollington soccer school

A grassroots football club in Bollington will welcome a former England, Manchester United and Derby County player.

Gordon Hill (70) will be sharing his expertise with the next generation at Bollington United FC this summer.

The England international will be coming to the Capelli Sports Ground on four dates in July 2024.

The soccer school costs between £15 for one day, or £40 for all four days. [You can book HERE].

Mr HIll is a former professional footballer who played for Manchester United from 1975-1978, playing 101 times and was capped six times by England.

He will teach in Bollington on 23, 24, 25 and 26 July 2024.

The sessions are separated by age groups, as follows:

  • U12s 10am – 12pm
  • U15s & U16s 2 – 4pm
  • U7s 5.30 – 6.30pm
  • U8s 6.30 – 7.30pm

David Spruce, Chairman of Bollington United, had this to say about the upcoming event: "Gordy Hill used to live in Bollington, so made a lot of connections.

"We look forward to welcoming him for his soccer school from July 23 to 26."

Hill's senior career began with Millwall. The Middlesex-born winger played for English clubs like Manchester United and Queens Park Rangers. He even played football for Cheshire club Northwich Victoria. He also had a stint in North America, the Netherlands and Finland.

His honours with the Red Devils included the FA Cup in 1976-77, and the 1977 Charity Shield. He also was top scorer for Manchester United for two seasons in a row.

Hill also had a brief stint as a manager with Cheshire club Chester City, and Hyde United.
