Macclesfield netball star represents her country on the global stage

A teenager from Macclesfield has been representing her country on the global stage.
Minnie Farooq, a year 10 pupil at King's School, is back home after starring for Pakistan U21s at the Asian Youth Girls Netball Championship.
The 15-year-old helped her team reach the final, defeating hosts South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Saudi Arabia and the Maldives along the way.
Not only a huge personal achievement for Minnie but also a historical moment for Pakistan, who formed an U21 national team for the first time.
Minnie said: "My grandparents are from Pakistan and when I realised I was eligible to play for them, it was so exciting.
"I didn't know any of the other girls on the team when I joined, but I have come home with some great new friends.
"It's been a brilliant experience and I can't wait to play for Pakistan again and show other Asian girls that anything can be achieved!"

Minnie, who plays club netball for Bramhall as well as Birmingham Panthers, was called up to play for the all-British Pakistani team and made vice-captain for their trip to South Korea.
Upon winning the Asian Youth Championship, the squad has been further selected for a tournament in Singapore in November this year as well as being invited to visit the Pakistan High Commission in London this summer.
Phil Owen, netball coach at King's, said: "There are multiple reasons to celebrate Minnie's selection for Pakistan U21s and their ultimate championship title.
"At just 15 years old, Minnie has shown such maturity and commitment, and King's is so proud of her performance as vice-captain of the team.
"Minnie is waving an important flag for young Asian girls, showing that it is possible to play sport and follow your dreams.
"We will continue to follow and support Minnie's netball progress and everyone at King's is so proud of her."
