Activists are to stage a vigil commemorating the people of Palestine in Macclesfield.
Global Justice Macclesfield are inviting people to gather outside the Town Hall on Saturday, August 29, for a silent vigil.
It will offer a chance for those in attendance to reflect upon the suffering endured by the people of Gaza and the West Bank.
Natalie Abbott, from Global Justice Macclesfield, said: "Following a supposed ceasefire last October, two million people in Gaza are living in dystopian conditions without hope.
"On the West Bank, three million Palestinians face increasing violence from illegal Israeli settlers supported by the Israeli Defence force.
"Their actions are encouraged by extremists in the Israeli cabinet.
"The current actions of the Israeli Government are making the viability of a Palestinian state more and more remote.
"The UK Government recognised the State of Palestine last September."
The vigil will take place from midday to 12.30pm.
Those interested in attending are asked not to chant and not to bring their own banners, placards or flags.
Global Justice Macclesfield will supply placards on the day.
Natalie added: "We welcome anyone who shares the aims and ethos of this vigil."
