Village tug of war club returns home from world championships with haul of medals

Bosley Tug of War Club proudly represented their community on the world stage.
The 12-strong squad led by coach Dave Knott headed to Nottingham earlier this month to take part in the World Tug of War Championships, competing against elite teams from across the globe.
This marked the second senior world championship appearance for many at the club, who entered the men's 560kg and 600kg competitions, delivering a commendable performance.
Bosley also celebrated outstanding achievements at junior and under 23 level, with many of the squad competing for Team England and in the open club competitions.
Coach Dave said: "Tug of war offers young people a unique blend of physical training, competitive spirit, international travel, and lifelong friendships.
"We encourage anyone interested to explore the sport and get in touch."

One particular highlight for Bosley Tug of War Club was the performance of George Lane, who won gold in the under 23 men's club competition and bronze in the under 23 men's 600kg competition representing England.
Tim Whilock also had a standout championship, securing three gold medals, as James Whilock competed for England in the junior men's 560kg, finishing sixth.
Meanwhile, Lorna Dale was part of the England under 23 women's team that won bronze in both the open competition and the under 23 women's category.
The above contributions capped off a very successful week for the England delegation at the event, which ran from September 4 to 7.
The host nation finished a total of 15 medals across the open and closed events, six of which were gold, making it one of England's most successful world outdoor tug of war championships ever.
