A Macclesfield swimming coach has been named one of the best in the North West.

Ben Cleaveley has been named Talent Development Coach of the Year at the Swim England North West Regional Awards.

Ben is the head coach at Satellites Swimming Club, who are based at Macclesfield Leisure Centre.

A spokesperson for the club said: "This award recognises Ben's outstanding dedication, passion, and commitment to helping our swimmers be the very best they can be, both in and out of the pool.

"We're so proud of Ben leading our entire coaching team in supporting the continued development of our swimmers.

"Their guidance, encouragement and expertise are driving the continued progression of our swimmers at Satellites."

The 2025 Swim England North West Regional Awards were held at Leigh Sports Village on Saturday, September 20.

Ben picked up the Gold Award for Talent Development Coach of the Year, meaning he will now go on to represent the region at the Swim England National Awardds.

These will take place at the University of Birmingham on Saturday, November 29.

Ben said: "All coaches know that we do what we do for our athletes and not for ourselves.

"That being said, it's nice for our hard work to be recognised, so being awarded North West Talent Development Coach of the Year goes a long way and lets me know I'm on the right track."
