Macclesfield: 'Accident waiting to happen' on pothole-laden residential road
An open letter has been sent to the a leading councillor, regarding the state of roads in a rural Macclesfield village.
While Macclesfield has long been the butt of jokes regarding potholes, with Brook Street one of the latest streets to shut down over a slew of potholes being fixed, the situation is just as bad in Sutton.
So much so, that one resident has penned an open letter to Cheshire East Council's Chair of the Highways and Transport Committee.
Trevor Priestman has sent a letter to Cllr Craig Browne. The Alderley Edge holds this Chair title, as well as being the Deputy Leader of Cheshire East Council.
The letter is not addressed to Ringway Jacobs, Cheshire East Council's pothole repair contractor, but is also relevant to them.

Mr Priestman, who is thought to be standing in this May's local elections, had this to add regarding the potholes on Walker Lane in Sutton.
"Despite numerous requests from residents on fixmystreet and responses from Cheshire East Council on the site, these potholes have not been attended too," he said.
"They are by a blind bend (as visible from photo attached) and drivers are driving in the middle of the road or in the oncoming lane to avoid damaging their cars. Our village roads are further used by cyclists and horse riders.
"The situation and severity of these pot holes is creating an accident waiting to happen.
"Many residents are concerned and given, as other villagers and I believe, the speeds with which some drivers go round the bend despite it being currently a 30 mph road, is heightening this situation.
"The pavement is close to the road at this bend and any accident would create a danger to pedestrians.
I hope that this is a news worthy topic as the village is extremely concerned and wish for action now before it is too late and media coverage may lead to CEC acting before it is sadly too late."
Cheshire East Council have also been independently contacted for comment by Macclesfield Nub News.
