Dear David Rutley MP,
Thank you for your intervention regarding the proposed closure/mothballing of our local recycling facilities as reported in the Macclesfield Express.
Any closure temporary or otherwise would be awful in so many ways: blighting our beautiful countryside with fly tipping which is expensive to remove and totally undermining all our efforts to take recycling and climate mitigation seriously.
I am a member of St Michael's Church [in Macclesfield] and their eco group and have the retail garden nursery in Prestbury where we take the care of our environment very seriously.
I want us to make this an issue where there is no chance of the current proposals going ahead.
My wife is on Adlington Parish Council and they are horrified at the proposal as are Poynton and Bollington Town Councils, Prestbury parish and no doubt the other representatives of our communities.
I propose exploring all options at a meeting of all interested parties at St Michaels to discuss a way forward. Ideas include our town/parish councils taking them over with the help of the private sector making them social hubs staffed by volunteers putting their running out to tender {Henshaws could easily assimilate them). Act we must.
Your predecessor Nicolas Winterton would definitely have headed this campaign and won .Are you willing to lead us ?
Please let me know your thoughts, we need to act speedily,
Yours Sincerely
Christopher Wellavize
