Cheshire East Council has today (28 May) launched a £4.28m discretionary fund to support small businesses in Macclesfield and across the borough.

The scheme will be open for applications from Monday (1 June) at 8am. The council is asking prioritised businesses that think they may be eligible, to prepare their evidence in advance – as allocation will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

The Special Constabulary dedicated thousands of hours to protect the communities of Cheshire last month after enhancing the force's continued work during the coronavirus pandemic.

Since the launch of the force-wide Operation Business, led by the Specials, a total of 968 business premises have been visited and more than 3,750 leaflets have been dropped.

The NHS in Cheshire is urging Macclesfield residents not to allow coronavirus to stop them getting the care they need.

The plea was made this week by Dr Katherine Butler, clinical lead for cancer at NHS Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group, after figures from NHS England showed that A&E attendances in England had fallen to their lowest total on record.
