The Macclesfield Festival has been postponed until next year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

In a post on Facebook, organisers of the festival said: "It is with heavy hearts that we have been forced to postpone Macclesfield Festival 2020. The safety of our customers is paramount and as such the decision was one which was made for us.

Local businessman, Simon Spurrell and personal trainer, Matt Rigby, have launched the Virtual 10k Charity Walk or Run in an effort to help the charities and allow runners to embrace their competitive side.

A King's School Macclesfield student has been going the extra mile for the NHS by volunteering to help those frontline health staff who he says "inspire" him.

Ollie Gandy, 17, a sixth former at the school, had been volunteering on the wards of Macclesfield District General Hospital until the coronavirus pandemic hit, but that hasn't stopped him offering a helping hand.
