Cheshire Regiment veteran, Mark Lomas

Age UK Cheshire East's new Veterans Keep in Touch service is hoping to expand and is looking to encourage more volunteers to join its ranks of veterans calling veterans.

The new service, funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund, started during the lockdown in April and since then, contact has been made with over 90 veterans who have been previously supported by the charity.

RESIDENTS in Cheshire East have been told to stay close to home because of different Covid-19 tier regulations in neighbouring areas.

Leaders of Cheshire East Council have issued the advice jointly with their counterparts in Cheshire West and Chester Council, Wirral Council, Halton Council and Warrington Council and say people should only visit neighbouring boroughs for the purposes of work, education or health only.

The most dramatic coronavirus development since the early summer easing of lockdown came to Cheshire this week, with both councils being placed in tier two restrictions by the government.

Tier two – also known as a 'high alert level' – means residents can no longer mix with other households in any indoor setting. Additionally, the rule of six applies for outdoor meet-ups.

Patients have been encouraged to return to normal services at Macclesfield Hospital after their successful reopening of the 'green' elective surgical areas during the summer.

All patients who are admitted to Ward 5 and Surgical Daycase Unit are on a green pathway, meaning they have self-isolated or observed strict social distancing for 14 days prior to their operation. 72 hours prior to admission, patients are required to undergo a COVID-19 swab test for infection control and prevention measures.
