Macclesfield members of Global Justice Now are hosting an event at St Michael's on Tuesday 2nd June at St Michael's Church, Macclesfield to promote understanding and action about what is happening in Palestine.

We can often feel overwhelmed as news mounts up of Gaza citizens facing attacks, displacement, malnutrition and disease while violent settler attacks in the West Bank continue to intensify.

Yet there is hope, as Omar Barghouti (inspirational activist and founder of the non-violent Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement) attests – hope is a duty.

We will listen to a conversation between Omar and Nick Dearden, director of Global Justice Now and learn about the wider context of the oppression, the signs of change and what we can practically do to support those who continue to suffer despite the so-called 'ceasefire'.

That might be choosing more carefully what we buy, advocating for an end to arms sales to Israel or querying where our pensions are invested. We are not powerless and we are implicated whether we like it or not.

We start at 7.30pm and everyone is welcome.
