Sheila has recently retired after many years experience working with children and families in our NHS and has a keen interest in the value of nurturing touch for babies and their parents.
Gawsworth Village Hall is a great a short distance from Macclesfield town. The venue has free parking on site, ramp available if required and a bus stop nearby. The sessions are friendly, relaxed and the environment welcoming.
We start with welcome and introductions, then relax and settle, share information about the history of baby massage, different oils, Cold pressed organic sunflower oil is provided along with a massage booklet and various other resources.
Strokes are introduced using a demonstration doll building to full massage by week. The pace is calm and baby led (babies will cry, sleep, need nappy changed during the session) we learn to recognise when a baby might like to be massaged.
Poems / short readings are included. There is discussion about related topics and chat over homemade cake and drinks.
Touch is a wonderful way to communicate with babies they gradually respond more to gentle massage strokes and interaction with their parent.
Baby Massage can beneficial for parents helping with relaxation and bonding.
Massage can help relieve tummy discomforts such as wind and constipation.
Baby massage can help with overall development, such as hand eye co-ordination with nursery rhymes and offer simple adaptations to tummy time.
Mums and Dad's are welcome. There is no extra charge for twins.
We have fun, laughter and share ideas in a supportive environment.
