Christopher Helme is a singer and songwriter and was the lead singer of the indie band Seahorses from their formation in 1996. Formed by guitarist John Squire after his departure from the Stone Roses, they split after musical differences during recording sessions in January 1999 for a planned follow-up from their debut album Do It Yourself (1997). Following this, Helme formed the Yards with former Seahorses bassist Stuart Fletcher before embarking on a solo career.
