Every year, the Co-op raises money for local causes across Macclesfield.
From toddler groups to children's football clubs, cancer charities to environmental groups, a wide breadth of local causes are covered.
And while the money is still being totted up for the Macclesfield causes the Co-op raised money for over the last 12 months, the local causes for the next 12 months have been announced.
Each Co-op store is assigned two causes to support, but Co-op Members can choose to raise funds for any of the causes below.
Co-op members can raise money for the causes at no extra cost to themselves, just by doing their weekly shop. The Co-op will also donate, with each cause getting thousands of pounds added to their coffers at the end of the 12 month fundraising cycle.
This year, the Co-op will support eight causes in Macclesfield, listed below (in no particular order):
All Hallows School Farm is the college farm for the Brooklands Avenue place of education.
It serves as a teaching facility, as well as a habitat for bees, llamas and other local wildlife. It also provides small scale food growing, planting beds, an orchard and polytunnels.
East Cheshire NHS Charity is the recently-rebranded charity which raises funds for Macclesfield Hospital, and other local hospitals in our area.
They are based inside Macclesfield Hospital, on Victoria Road.
Macc Wild Network Trust will return as a Co-op local cause for a second year.
They are on a mission to rewild Macclesfield and create spaces for nature.
Allsorts Pre-School, part of Bollington St John's, is a charity which cares for children aged 2-5. They are encouraged to explore, with plenty of opportunities for outdoor play and creativity.
Macclesfield and District Young Stroke Society (MADYSS), a Co-op cause for the first time. The society supports young stroke survivors and regularly meets in The Flower Pot pub.
It is a special year for the local good cause, as they will celebrate their 20th anniversary next year.
Puss Bank School and Nursery serves children aged 2 to 11.
Another new Co-op cause, they have 442 pupils, and will use the Co-op cash to make improvements at the school to benefit students.
Prestbury Youth Pantomime Association stages a production performed during the second week of January each year at MADS Little Theatre in Macclesfield.
Young performers aged between 7 and 13 take part. Tickets for their January 2024 show can be found HERE, and the Co-op money will help keep the arts alive in Macc.
The Savage Foundation is a Co-op cause for the first time. It offers free grassroots football for little ones.
The cause has previously had to rely on donations to the public for football boots, but will receive a financial boost this time next year from the Co-op.
Co-op membership helps support your local community, with great rewards for you too. When you buy selected Co-op branded products and services, 2p for every pound spent goes to you and the Co-op gives the same to local communities.
