The fourth and final round of local cause funding donated by the Co-op to community causes has been revealed.

A whopping £7777.34 was raised in total, and split across three local causes.

Co-op Food stores and Co-op Members in the east of Macclesfield helped raise the funds, just through buying Co-op products. The stores that raised for the trio of good causes were Co-op London Road, Buxton Road and Hurdsfield Road.

Co-op Member Pioneer for Macclesfield Tina Davies-Wrench, said: "My local causes for last year were The Green in the Corner, The Hope Centre and Space4Autism.

The Green in the Corner provide affordable and tasty meals for those in need.

"As you can see our fantastic staff and customers raised a lot of money. Thank you to everyone - including our Co-op members - for their support."

The amount each cause received is as follows:

  • Space4Autism received £2.995.87
  • The Green in the Corner received £2.445.87
  • The Hope Centre received £2.335.60

Space4Autism is a voluntary-ran charity on Macclesfield's Mill Lane. Set up in 2005, it provides a safe space for children with autism and their families.

The Hope Centre is a Christian volunteer led organisation with a charity shop on Park Green.

Hurdsfield's The Green in the Corner on 8 Hurdsfield Green is a community café providing affordable meals for residents.

The Hope Centre on 4 Park Green is a coffee shop, and bookshop selling books, cards and gifts.

Representatives of the local causes were presented cheques and posed for photos, in similar ceremonies to those held at Thornton Square, West Park Drive and Bollington Co-op.

Those present included Buxton Road Store Manager Sam Bradley. Hurdsfield Cheshire East Councillor Steve Carter was also present for The Green in the Corner.

Becoming a Co-op member costs just £1 and Co-op membership can allow you to raise money for local causes at no extra cost to you.

It is part of £117 million that Co-op Food members have raised nationwide in the last six years - just through buying Co-op branded products.
