Macclesfield's kind-heartedness and community spirit has been praised after donations of toiletries were given to Macclesfield Hospital.

Co-op stores in Macclesfield had rallied the town to donate new dental, bathing and other related toiletries.

And as a result, five big bags of toiletries has been donated to Macclesfield Hospital, which will be used by their patients of Ward 9.

Some of the horde donated, which was a mix of Co-op and not Co-op goods.

Lisa, Macclesfield Hospital Ward 9 activities coordinator said: "We want to thank Co-op and their customers for this kind donation - these toiletries will come in so useful for the patients who sometimes come with very little and end up staying for several weeks or months."

"It's so nice to have good quality toiletries that smell nice and can help cheer up patients who are going through a difficult time.

"We're so grateful, they will really make a difference."

Louise Little, Member Pioneer for the Co-op Macclesfield said: "It was such a delight to support Macc hospital and their patients by collecting toiletries across the local Macclesfield Co-op stores.

"It was wonderful to hear how these will help patients and make their stay a little easier.

"After the success of this collection drive, we can hopefully make this a yearly collection for Macclesfield Hospital."

Macclesfield Hospital is located on Victoria Road.
