Firefighters have been tackling a large fire at a disused mansion on Beech Lane throughout the night.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue say when they arrived at the scene shortly after 7pm yesterday the three-storey building was "well alight" and resulted in the closure of Beech Lane which remains in place.

In an update at 8am this morning, a spokesperson said crews remained at the scene to dampen down the flames.

Macclesfield Nub News has contacted the fire service for any updates on this incident.

Firefighters split the building into two sectors and used three main jets to tackle the fire.

Six fire engines attended from Congleton, Macclesfield, Bollington, Poynton, Wilmslow and two from Greater Manchester along with an aerial appliance from Macclesfield.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

This morning crews have also removed a number of roof tiles from the building to help ensure the fire have been fully extinguished.

A thermal imaging camera is also being used to check for any hotspots.

Beech Lane remains closed from Hibel Road to Brocklehurst Way and people are advised to avoid the area.
