A proposed drive-thru KFC in Macclesfield has appeared on a speculative list of new locations for the American fast food chain.

While it has been long-rumoured that KFC are one of the businesses interested in occupying the new retail park on Barracks Mill, off've Black Lane, the fried chicken specialists are still unable to verify.

A KFC spokesperson said: "Sorry KFC fans of Macclesfield, we hate to disappoint, but this list is only speculative – no current plans to open a new restaurant in your area.

"But as the list proves, we're always on the lookout for new sites so who knows what the future holds!"

This comes as a KFC webpage was published this week called 'Our Target Locations', and featured our town on there.

A total of 543 UK locations were all mentioned for potential future KFC branches, as you can see here.

A new document earmarks "Macclesfield ,Donna Commack (UK North), Proposed, Drive Thru" as a new location. But as we have reported, the masters of the 11 herbs and spices are remaining tight-lipped.

Last month, the chicken-in-a-bucket experts told us to 'Watch this space' over a possible new premises in Macclesfield.

It has been decades since a KFC was in our town. Would you like to see the Colonel return?
