Macclesfield FC have received a pint-sized present for their first birthday.

Our town's new football club, which turned one last week, met up with sponsors LSH Auto to swap gifts to honour the occasion.

The car dealers are just a one minute drive from Macclesfield's ground. The Mercedes sellers are located on the Lyme Green Business Park.

While Martyn Webb of LSH Auto was chuffed with a Silkmen shirt, it was their gift to the football club that stole the show.

The club's commercial partner gifted a comically tiny car.

The mini-Merc helped celebrated Macclesfield FC's one year anniversary in style. The club's official birthday was last week.

It has already been an unforgettable year for the new Silkmen, who came from nothing in October 2020 to sit atop of the North West Counties Football Premier Division.

Club rescuers Rob Smethurst and ex-professional footballer Robbie Savage posed for pics.

Macclesfield FC's Owner and Director of Football were delighted with the gift, and have decided to use the tiny electric car for match ball carriers.

LSH Auto already have full-sized cars Macclesfield FC's luxury fleet of vehicles (also pictured) so a smaller car felt apt to complete their collection.

The football club's official van and car supplier has given the club a licensed Mercedes AMG G63 12V kids' electric car. The value of the little wagon is unknown.

Martyn Webb, Managing Director LSH Auto, said: "We were inspired by the remote controlled cars that delivered match balls onto the pitch before England's home games at Wembley and Scotland's home games at Hamden Park in the Euros.

"We thought it would be fun for the young boys and girls who carry the match ball out onto the pitch before Macclesfield FC's home games to drive the club's own tiny Mercedes-Benz!"

LSH Auto was first announced as the 'Official Van & Car Supplier' to Macclesfield FC in December 2020, just two months into the club's journey to rebuild and start again.

Since then, the club has grown to include 29 football teams and an academy, with 75 staff, including 25 full-time coaches as well as a gym, a bar and a 4G pitch.

With the first team now topping their division and regularly attracting an average attendance of 2,678, the club's future is looking bright again.

Macclesfield FC's Director of Football, Robbie Savage said: "We were so pleased to welcome LSH Auto as one of our sponsors back in December and we've been putting our Mercedes-Benz Vito Tourer Vans to good use at all levels since then, from transporting the first team, to being used for some of our grassroots and community initiatives."

Savage, who turned 47 this week, was born in Wrexham, but has made Macc his second home.

He added: "LSH Auto's Mercedes-Benz of Macclesfield dealership is minutes away from our ground, so it's a local business, but it's also part of one of the largest dealer groups for Mercedes-Benz cars worldwide.

"It just goes to show how local businesses are getting behind the club and supporting the Macclesfield community.

"Kids are a huge part of our club. We have 365 youngsters aged 7-16 playing football here, and we want to encourage even more families to get involved, so I think the tiny Mercedes-Benz is going to be a brilliant asset to the club."

The Welshman and Prestbury resident posted a clip of the teensy car in action on social media.

Martyn Webb said: "Giving back to the communities that support us is one of our core principles. We're delighted to have played a small part in the success of the club in its first year and we look forward to continuing to support Macclesfield FC on its journey."

LSH Auto offers all-new models from the Mercedes-Benz and smart car collection, premium approved used vehicles and exceptional aftersales services including maintenance, repairs, servicing, parts and accessories.

The Silkmen take on Padiham this weekend, to continue their case for promotion from the North West Counties Football League.

Earlier in the week, the club paid tribute to a young employee of their gymnasium, who sadly died.
