Macclesfield FC's League Confirmed for 2021 22 Season
Macclesfield FC now know who they will be playing in their debut season, as their division was confirmed.
Earlier today, The Football Association have accepted The Silkmen into their new competition.
The new club already were accepted into the North West Counties Football League, their division had not yet been assigned.
It is the best possible result for The Silkmen, as they are in the highest possible tier, and will play in the North West Counties Premier Division for the 2021/22 campaign.
This means they are six promotions away from the Football League.
Next season, Macclesfield FC will play Cheshire teams such as Winsford United, Runcorn Town, and Northwich Victoria.
The club had this to say:
"This represents Step 5 of the non-league pyramid and with it, comes automatic inclusion into next season's FA Vase competition," they said.
"It means that our inaugural league season will commence on Saturday 31st July 2021 and we will advise our definitive fixture list once confirmed.
"The Club are delighted with this outcome and can now fully commit to our preparations ahead of the new season.
"We would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and dedication throughout this process."
The news comes as a reformation of the Football Pyramid was announced earlier today.
The North West Counties Premier Division has relegation to North West Counties First Division North and North West Counties First Division South. Promotion is to Step 4 of the Football Pyramid.
Director of Football Robbie Savage added: "It is a great day for the fans and a community of Macclesfield. They've gone from thinking not long ago that they wouldn't have a football to support, to what league they are going in.
"Step 5 is the best we could've hoped for. Just to be in the non-league once again is fantastic. We're gonna give everything. We're recruiting and we've got some good players coming in.
"We are going to be everybody's 'cup final' now, we've got some fantastic teams alongside us in the pyramid like Norwich Victoria and Wythenshawe Town.
"And we've got 3000 fans here, our travelling fans will create incomes for these clubs when we go there on a Saturday, on a Tuesday. We cannot wait."
Aside our county, teams can be from Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Isle of Man, High Peak, Lancashire, Merseyside, Northern Shropshire, Northern Staffordshire, the far west of West Yorkshire.
