A busy summer lies ahead for Macclesfield's climbing centre.

Substation on Queens Avenue has plenty lined up in the coming months, starting with the IFSC Climbing World Cup.

They will be screening the competition in their café across various weekends in June, with a special party planned for June 14 and 15 featuring £8 pizzas and local beer for £4.

If this leaves you feeling inspired then you will be pleased to hear the centre is also running monthly outdoor bouldering socials, offering members the chance to experience climbing outside.

A Substation spokesperson said: "It's a great way to meet new friends, learn new skills and gain confidence whilst enjoying the summer sunshine!"

For those looking to take climbing seriously, Substation offer personalised support sessions with head coach Riccardo.

Each 60-minute session is designed around your current skill level and personal goals.

Private one-to-one sessions are available for £40, as well as small group sessions for up to four people from £20 per person.

There is also a 10 per cent discount off one-to-one sessions for members.

Getting Started

If you're only just getting started, consider a 30-minute 'introduction to bouldering' with an instructor.

This will give you the basic techniques you need to boulder safely and confidently, with shoe hire and chalk included.

You will then be free to explore the walls at your own pace.

After this, if you're not quite prepared to pull the trigger on a membership, day passes are available for £10.50.

Alternatively, get a punch card offering 10 sessions for the price of nine.
