Anybody walking around Macclesfield or the surrounding towns will have seen a Lynx taxi - even if you aren't in it yourself.

This taxi-firm, has been driving passengers and goods around for 37 years.

It is an independent family-run business, priding itself on reliability and accountability. They have also just had a soft rebrand, with a sleek new logo.

We spoke to manager Isty to learn more about this small business success story.

Perhaps the most obvious thing that sets Lynx apart are their brick and mortar offices, one of which is staffed 24/7.

Their Macclesfield offices are on Brook Street and Mill Street.

The business - headquartered in Hazel Grove - prides itself on doing their bit for charity and the community.

"There are always people to phone up, and they're all from around here", Isty explained.

It means those who prefer chatting to somebody on the phone, rather than using an app, can always find an employee to speak to = someone who knows Macclesfield and the surrounding area.

However, Lynx also has a streamlined app - akin to what you'd expect from Uber - for those who prefer something quick and easy.

The same ethos goes for drivers - if you fancy a chat, it's there if you want it, but you can just as well sit back and enjoy the ride.

Isty also emphasises that this taxi service caters for everybody in the area, from young to old; "Whether you're Mr Johnson going to the shops, if you're a CEO on the way to a meeting, or if you just want something delivered, we can provide", he said.

The manager further elaborated what makes this firm unique.

"People don't realise how much we can compete with Uber", he said.

And it's not just the app - Lynx can also compete with other providers when it comes to price and punctuality.

"We have a really high on-time rate. Most of the time our drivers are around 10 minutes early."

What's more, with a fare calculator and a huge range of discounts, you can always count on good pricing when getting from A to B.

Certainly, not only are there discounts for students, NHS workers, and elderly passengers, but there are also rewards schemes for loyal customers.

At its core, Lynx prides itself on its level of human interaction, the friendliness of its staff, and its accessibility.

They have sponsored Macclesfield Nub News since September 2023.

They're also on Facebook, and regularly post discounts to their social media.
