Lynx Taxis to expand presence in Macclesfield
A taxi firm has made 2023 the year of expansion in Macclesfield.
Hazel Grove-based taxi firm Lynx Taxis have always served Macclesfield, and have often promoted their services from Macclesfield to Manchester Airport over the years.
But the company has now shifted things up a gear, and want to expand their presence in Treacletown.
They have two offices in the town, with one opening as a recruitment office earlier in the year on Mill Street.
Macclesfield Nub News met with Ehsan Shakeri, Managing Director of Lynx Taxis, to find out why they are making a big effort to serve Macclesfield.
"The taxi firm is in my blood", said Ehsan.
"My father started the business in the 1988, as a taxi driver, my mum was answering the calls while she was pregnant with my brother.
"That is how the business began, but I have been coming here since I was four, and in my current position over the last six years.
"We have a fleet of 500 vehicles, working at any one time within the week. So we have quite a wide coverage. We have two officers in Macclesfield, and various vehicles from 16-seater minibuses for parties to wheelchair-accessible ones.
"We have an executive service for corporate clients as well."
Should you need a taxi, the Macclesfield landline to call is 01625 43 43 43.
A popular service for Maxonians has always been arranging for a Lynx Taxi to take families to Manchester Airport.
But now, they want to be used in Macclesfield for all your taxi needs.
One way of spreading that awareness - for Ehsan - is corporate social responsibility.
"We're massive on sponsorships, charity and putting back in to the community," revealed Ehsan.
"We provide and organise donations to food banks. We work closely with Barnardo's. And every year we do a calendar for a local primary school.
"We also sponsor Stockport County FC. So for us, there is nothing to big or too small to get involved with and raise funds for.
"A few weeks ago, there was a special needs school in Offerton which was set alight. And they had to raise so much money, so we put two grand towards that. We don't even question it.
"These are our values. The community made us to where we are, so our appreciation as a family business is to give back as much as we can.
"We have some really loyal customers, and really take part in celebrating localness. The reason why we are trying to celebrate Macclesfield and put a lot more time and money in the area is because we feel the same.
"I live around that area, it is close to my home. Macclesfield has always been part of our family as well, we have family there. We've always touched on Macclesfield, but never really pressed and pushed and showed our presence as such.
"So it was a really big thing for us this year to make our mark on that. So that will involve getting involved with the community as well to support them in whatever comes our way.
"We do our sponsorship with Macclesfield Festival and Capesthorne Hall, but we want to get really in to the nitty gritty of the community in Macclesfield.
"And we offer a ten per cent discount for NHS workers, OAPs and students."
For Macclesfield businesses, there will also be a discount for the first month of a new corporate account being opened as well.
For Macclesfield individuals, their app regularly features special offers as well.
When asked what advantages the pink-clad taxi firm has over big national competitors like Uber, Ehsan again emphasises the altruistic side of the business.
"I think giving back is strong with us because we are a family company", explained Ehsan.
"And we know that everyone is struggling today. When the petrol goes up, we feel it as well. So we react to help the customers and the drivers we have on our platform.
"We have a lost property department which sets us apart from Uber and other big taxi apps.
"The process we have is so good, and it is those little things that go a long, long way.
"Being able to ring up and speak to someone over the phone is also a massive, massive thing. That personal touch, maybe the customer just wants to speak to someone, sometimes that's all they need.
"Some of our telephonist team have been working here for 20 years, so they know the clientele like friends."
They hope to shortly introduce discounts for loyal customers, and offers with their partners, as thanks for their business over the years.
"And you've also got to understand Uber is cheap, but you've got to think who is losing on that battle," Ehsan also said.
"It will be the drivers that are getting less and less money. But we supply good rates for our drivers.
"Our message to the people of Macclesfield would be, we are here to help the community and hopefully they will embrace us as well.
"We serve from Manchester all the way to Congleton, and we started in Hazel Grove. And can't wait to help Macclesfield get to where they need to go."
