Award for 'collective hub' helping to shine a light on Macclesfield's creatives
A 'hub' helping to shine a light Macclesfield's creatives has won an award.
Adam Schofield and Melissa Wilkinson, the co-founders of Made in Macclesfield, have been awarded a Mayor's Civic Award in the arts and culture category.
Launched in June 2023, Made in Macclesfield is described as a 'collective hub' where people can discover local makers.
Adam and Melissa said: "Promoting and showcasing the makers of Macclesfield is the reason why we started this.
"We're both local makers and know how much talent there is in Macclesfield.
"We felt that a light needed to be shone on those working from their workshops, spare rooms and at their dining tables, each continuing the legacy of creativity that Macclesfield is famous for."

Over 100 local makers, divided into various categories, are featured on the website.
That includes both Adam and Melissa's own businesses, Adam Francis Illustrator and Holistic Earth.
"Made in Macclesfield is purely about showcasing and celebrating the creativity, passion and talent of our local Macclesfield makers and connecting you and them together, through our website or in person at our makers markets," they added.
"Since launching in June 2023, we have received so much support from our amazing Macclesfield makers, from Macclesfield Town Council with their encouragement and help by including us within their events, from the Macclesfield Visitor Information Centre for working with us to stock their shop with many of our 'Made in Macclesfield' makers and to the people of Macclesfield who have supported us all at our markets and via our website and social media."
Made in Macclesfield also host 'makers markets', including a min-version that took place at the Town Hall as part of Macclesfield Town Council's 10th birthday celebrations on Saturday (May 17).
The next 'big' makers market is on September 13, to coincide with the Heritage Open Day.
