Spring cleaning is expected to see a surge in visitors at Cheshire East tips.

The borough council has issued advice and information for using household waste recycling centres over the Easter period.

Easter is usually a peak time for people spring cleaning and tackling garden projects, resulting an increase of visits to the HWRCs in Macclesfield, Alsager, Crewe and Knutsford.

Residents are being encouraged to consider visiting at another time where possible.

Cheshire East Council's advice for using HWRCs over Easter

  • Residents who need to visit during the Easter period are reminded that they need to book a slot in advance if they are visiting at the weekend or on any of the Bank Holidays. Booking a slot is quick and easy and can be done via: Book a slot at a household waste recycling centre
  • Sites are also expected to be particularly busy on Tuesday 22 April and residents are therefore advised, if possible, to visit later in the week.
  • Between April and September, sites are open until 6pm on weekdays (excluding Bank Holidays) and are usually much quieter later in the day.
  • Sites are usually busiest between 11am and 2pm.
  • Sites may need to be closed at short notice and visitors turned away if traffic management becomes an issue and it is unsafe to continue operating.
