Air ambulance called as road closed after tanker overturns

A driver has been taken to hospital following a crash near Adlington.
Emergency services including an air ambulance were called to Wilmslow Road in Newton on Wednesday afternoon (November 5).
It comes after a tanker overturned near the Sidney Jackson Ford dealership.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 3.10pm on Wednesday, November 5, police were called to reports of a collision on Wilmslow Road, Newton.
"The collision involved a tanker which had overturned.
"The driver has been taken to hospital to be checked over."
Sidney Jackson took to social media shortly after the crash occurred to confirm that the road outside the dealership was closed.
The post also stated that an air ambulance had been called to the scene.
It reads: "An accident has taken place just outside our garage.
"The road is closed is both directions as the air ambulance and emergency services are in attendance."
It is understood the road remains closed as of 4.30pm.
