A suspected drink driver has been arrested following a crash in Macclesfield.

Emergency services were called to the Silk Road in the early hours of Thursday morning (November 6).

It follows reports of a crash involving a Vauxhall Corsa and a milk float.

Upon arrival, officers arrested the driver of the Corsa, a 40-year-old woman, on suspicion of drink driving.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At around 4am on Thursday, November 6, police were called to a collision on Silk Road. Macclesfield.

"Police attended and found the collision involved a black Vauxhall Corsa and a milk float.

"The driver of the Corsa, a 40-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving; she has since been taken to hospital."

The Silk Road was closed between the Hibel Road and Hulley Road roundabouts for a number of hours following the crash.
